How to Simplify Reading Time

Recently, I added quiet reading time to our rhythm. This idea has been on my mind for a very long time and I just had not come around to doing it.

Quiet reading time is not just for the children but for the adults too. When we the adults participate in quiet reading time, it shows our children the importance of reading. It shows that we too love to read. We are teaching them to love reading by example.

The way I’m getting this accomplished is by having 15 minutes of quiet reading time after lunch. Everyone chooses a book they want to read and I put on a timer for fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes we finish up our reading and move on to a new activity.

It’s a little rough trying to place this new activity into our daily routine, but after awhile it’s something we all look forward to.
