Why It’s Good To Have A Kid’s Corner

One of my favorite parts of our home is what I call the Kid’s Corner. This is a nook in our home that I believe may be the bar area. Visitors love this area because it has a real welcoming feeling.

Here are the kids toys, puzzles, books, and games. This corner is a small play area and the toys are meant to be shared with visitors.

The idea of a kid’s corner came after visiting a friend’s home who had a similar corner in a nook of her home. The kids played there while the mother and I talked. I loved that corner so much that I knew I had to create one in our new home.

After listening to a couple of podcasts regarding children’s safety, I learned and decided that it’s best to make my children’s rooms off limits to visitors. So when visitors come I close the doors of their room. I also, tell my children to put away the toys that they don’t want to share. As adults, we don’t share all of our things with others so it’s okay for our children to keep their more valued toys put away in their room.

So, when visitors with children come, the kids are all playing in the living room, outside, or the kid’s corner.

The kids corner could be as small or as big as you like. It’s an area for sharing and community.

Have you ever thought about putting together a kid’s corner?
