Motherhood is a Calling
Being a mother is an honor. It is a calling to teach our children diligently in the ways of the Lord (Deuteronomy 6:7). For they are a heritage of the Lord (Psalm 127:3-5).
When I first became a mother, I thought that because I had studied education and worked with children that I knew so much about raising them. I had a lot of pride.
In my struggles of motherhood, God showed me how much I needed him. I prayed and prayed for His help because I was so lost.
God has helped me along the way. He has brought me closer to him. He has even called me to homeschooling so that I could know him better and teach my children his ways (Proverbs 22:6) and be an example to my children (Titus 2:6-7).
Being a mother has taught me patience, kindness, gentleness, humility, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) and so much more. And yet there is so much more I need to work on. But the Lord is there with me guiding me and helping me on this beautiful journey.
I hope that wherever you find yourself that you are giving thanks for your children. And remember, “The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.”
What has motherhood taught you?
