Make Birthdays Special

Happy Birthday to my two year old William Lucas. I’m so blessed to be his mother. I wanted to share a few things I did that I learned from my mom, @sally.clarkson’s book The Lifegiving Table, and something’s I just came up with. The point is to make birthdays another special day of celebration and thanksgiving.

1. Cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I got this idea from @sally.clarkson and I thought this was such a great idea. It’s a wonderful way to get excited for the next day. It’s a special breakfast and one that makes birthdays memorable.

2. Wrap each present individually: I got this tip from my mom and saw that Sally Clarkson does the same. It’s a way to make birthday presents look even more abundant.

3. Wrap presents in birthday paper: because my son was born the week of Christmas, it’s important it make their birthday a separate event from Christmas. One mom told me to wrap presents in birthday paper and to NEVER mix my son’s birthday with Christmas.

4. Sprinkle presents throughout the day: I like to give a present for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It makes the day even more exciting.

5. Have the family make their birthday cards: I got this idea from Sally Clarkson too. Have the family make their own birthday cards. It’s great way to express their feelings and they make wonderful keepsakes.

6. Sign a book: another birthday keepsake is buying a book per birthday that is signed by everyone. I got this wonderful idea from a dear friend of mine.

All of these tips bring beauty and goodness to the home. It makes birthdays special and memorable.
