Learn to Read with Poetry

I was seriously astonished when my daughter learned to read with poetry. Not only did she learn to read with poetry, we learned to love poetry with its simple rhymes and storytelling.

This simple method has helped my daughter love to read.

“Poetry is one of those human things with which Charlotte Mason wished children to establish a relationship.” - Karen Andreola

I can tell you that when my daughter used @agentlefeast 100 Gentle Lessons in Sight and Sound by my daughter and I fell in love with poetry.

How to use poetry to learn how to read:

1. Poetry teaches sight words.
2. Repetition and words families helps children learn how to read.
3. Students use the sight words to learn to read new sentences.

My favorite part about using the Charlotte Mason method has been learning to love to read with poetry. If you don’t include poetry in your homeschool, I highly recommend it.

What are some of your favorite poetry books for kids?
