How to Create a Gentle Atmosphere

How to Create a Gentle Atmosphere

Charlotte Mason spoke about creating an atmosphere that went beyond aesthetics. She wanted us to cultivate an atmosphere based on ideas, homemaking, and nurture. Here are three ways cultivate a lovely atmosphere.

1. Ideas
What ideas are you allowing to enter your home? The ideas you allow to enter your home are a big factor in the atmosphere of your home. The music you play, the podcasts you listen to, and the books you read. All of those influence the minds of you and your children.

2. Homemaking
We live in a culture that doesn’t always appreciate homemaking. But homemaking is an honorable vocation. When we love our home and those in it, it shows. We are gentle, patient, and kind. Children always feel safe when they know they are loved and listened to.

3. Nurture
Children need to feel loved and safe. It is important that they are able to come to us with all their questions and know we will answer them to the best of our ability. We have to have listening ears and pray to respond with words of wisdom.

I hope these tips help you cultivate an inviting atmosphere for your family.
