Six Great Books for Mothers
I was recently asked what books I would recommend to a new mom. It took me a little while to answer but then I said the Bible. When I went home, I thought about more books and these are the ones I came up with.
1. The Bible: read the Bible. The whole Bible, from beginning to end in chronological order. Use @thebiblerecap to help. I didn’t intend to use the Bible as a parenting book, it just became that. As I read/listened to phrases like, “He is slow to anger,” being repeated over and over, I suddenly found myself imitating our Lord and being slow to anger too!
2. Charlotte Mason’s volumes: Miss Mason has so much wisdom. Her wisdom is opening my eyes to a gentle approach to raising and educating children that truly excites me.
3. Books by @sally.clarkson. Her books are also filled with wisdom on how to bring up Godly children who love the Lord and put home first. She also gives wonderful advice to mamas on how to take care of one’s spiritual and physical needs.
4. Books by @cindyordoamoris. Cindy Rollins is given credit for coining the term Morning Time. Her books teach you how to start your morning with the Bible and flow in a gentle fashion.
5. Books by @karenandreola. I cannot tell you how much I’m loving her book Mother Culture. It’s an easy read that teaches you how to have a good relationship with your children while taking care of yourself.
6. For the Children’s Sake: this book is a bonus book if you are thinking about homeschooling. She bases all her knowledge from Charlotte Mason’s volumes and writes about the benefits and reasons to homeschool.
What other books would you add to this list?
