Notebooking Tip: Form I Students

Notebooking Wednesday: Form I Students

I have a student in form one who uses my living notebooks. She has been using them since 1st grade. Here is how I use the living notebooks in Form I.

When my daughter was in first grade, I asked my daughter to narrate the lesson. I would write down what she said on our chalkboard and have her copy it. So the notebooks became copy work. At first, I would write down what she said and she would trace it. As time went on, I only had to write what she said on the chalk board and she would copy it. Towards the end of second grade she was already writing down her own narrations and excited to do so.

My daughter is now at the end of Form I and is writing down all of her narrations on her own after we discuss the lesson. When she is finished writing down her narration, I check her work for grammatical errors.

I love to look back at her work from previous years and see how she her improvement.

Do you have any questions regarding notebooking with Form I students?
