I finally got help

My husband is in the Navy and is in and out all the time. I did the math and he was gone over 40% last year. I live about two hours away from our family, so clearly they can’t help on a daily or weekly basis. Furthermore, I truly thought that since I was a teacher and had classes with about 35-40 students I seriously thought that I could manage three kids easily!

Well that turned out not to be true. Turns out that managing a home and homeschooling is a whole other ball game. As the baby became older homeschooling was becoming harder. I even told my husband that I may need help at least for the time he is gone.

Trust me, asking for help was not easy.

God listened to my prayer and sent a wonderful woman to help me with the children. Funny, she was praying about a career change too. She was praying to become a mother-helper. Something she had seen in her homeschool community growing up.

I now have a wonderful helper that comes twice a week and is like a teacher’s aid. When I’m working with my second grader and preschooler, she is working with my toddler. The children love her and her experience growing up as a homeschooler is wonderful for me too when I’m brainstorming ideas.

I’m truly thankful to my husband for encouraging me to get extra help, and God for sending me someone that we all like and trust.

Do you have help? Are you open to having help?
