How to Organize Your Living Books

One of the projects I’m working is organizing my Living Books. Living books are books that take you on an adventure with them, and are reread-able.

Every month, I display a collection of picture books on our display bookshelf and every night, the children take turns selecting a book to read.

I love this tradition because we look forward to the nightly tale and it gives us the opportunity to reread the stories the following year. Not to mention that bring out the books from the closet is kind of exciting to do.

Here is how I’m organizing my books:

1. Create Your Own Book List
There are many picture book lists out there. Go through a couple of them and select your favorite books. Display the books and have your children select one to read each night.

2. Hide the Books
At the end of each month, put the books away in a basket and hide them in a closet. This will allow everyone to get excited to read the books the following year.

Organizing your living books into monthly bundles will allow you reread them on a yearly basis and make it exciting to bring them out each year.
