A Day in the Life of the Grafs
After three years of homeschooling, I’ve been able to create a rhythm that works for us on a daily basis. So here are the basics of how my day goes:
Mama Morning:
Every morning I wake up around 6 am and start the day with the Bible. The Bible is good for my soul and it sets my mind on what is true, good, and beautiful. Afterwards, I listen/read a book while I get ready followed by a workout.
Morning Time:
I wake up my children at 8 am and help them get ready, do laundry, and make breakfast. My girls start school at 9 am, while I’m making breakfast, with individual studies like math and handwriting. We start together at 9:30 with recitation, enrichment, Bible, and finish up with kids P.E.
The Feast:
The feast the meat of the school day. Here we study history, science, geography, and Spanish as a family. We do each subject once week.
Lunch & Quiet Time:
Once school is over we eat lunch while listening to a book. Then we finish up the day’s chores, followed by quiet time, each in their quiet time corners. I take that time to do home management and blog work.
Tea Time:
Tea time is at 3:00 pm and during this time we have a snack followed by our handicrafts and or errands and doctors appointments.
Evenings:
After tea time I start making dinner, sometimes with the help of my oldest. My husband takes takes the children out to play. When they come home, they shower, then it’s time to eat. When dinner is over we clean up as a family, and if the children eat all their food without a fuss, we will watch a family show together. We then brush up, I read a devotional to the kids, give them their blessings, and wish them a good night. Once the kids are in beds it’s Mami, Daddy time.
Having a well planned day with room for adjustments is a great way to have peace and harmony in our home.
How do you spend your day?
