5 Ways to save on Homeschool Books
After finishing up my first year of homeschooling, I learned it’s really easy to get caught up buying all the beautiful books you see online.
Today, I’m going to share some of my tips and tricks on how to save on homeschool books.
1. Library or YouTube videos
When I first started to homeschool, the book lists seemed long and overwhelming. I asked myself if all of this was necessary. Not totally convinced that it was, I decided to find read alouds on YouTube. The library was closed due to COVID, so my next best option was to have someone else read the books to my children. It worked out great! We saved a lot of money on books by just watching them be read online for FREE!
2. Donations or inherited books
See if you have any books from your childhood that you can use for homeschooling. My parents gave me the Childcraft encyclopedia set, which has been incredibly helpful and a money saver.
3. Supplement stories
Point number two leads me to my next point. Don’t be afraid of supplementing a story. Because I have the Childcraft encyclopedia, I don’t buy all the books on the booklist because I have plenty of stories in that set that will do just fine.
4. Buy used book
You can find so many of the books on book lists for less by purchasing used. All used books come in great condition.
5. Amazon points
This may be the least popular example if you’re a strict Dave Ramsey follower. However, this last point has saved us tons of money. We use the points of our Amazon credit card to order FREE books!
Anyway, I hope this helps. This was what I learned this year. I know not all my points are for everyone, so please take what works for you and apply it.
